I've been on a little bit of a health kick lately.  It's been a long winter of lazy days and junk food and in my case, a broken toe that kept that kept me on the couch for 6 weeks.  I've got a little touch of spring fever and I'm ready to get moving again and to get back on track, but first, it's time to get my snack game back on track.

Whether you’re on the go, short on time or just crave with a small appetite, snacking is the best option to keep energized and fed. However, don’t you get bored of the same old cookies, pieces of fruit, granola bars, chips and whatever else your pantry holds? Give these creative and healthy snacks a try to satisfy your cravings with something delectably new!

1. Avocado Pudding

You might be wondering how avocados, something you usually put in your salads and sandwiches, can be used to make pudding but they work better than you could imagine! The good fat in avocados makes a perfect base for a creamy chocolate pudding. Throw in an avocado, cocoa powder, and non-dairy milk into a food processor and blend until a smooth consistency is reached! If you’re feeling adventurous, substitute your favorite cocoa powder with an unsweetened one and add dates and a banana as natural sweeteners.

2. Roasted Chickpeas

You’re probably familiar with hummus but try the unblended form. Chickpeas on their own are packed with protein and fiber, making them a perfect snack. Not only are chickpeas healthy, but you can also roast them with whatever spice you’d like, whether it’s cinnamon, cayenne or just salt.

3. Dried Fruit with Dark Chocolate

Whether you choose to dip the dried fruit in melted, unsweetened dark chocolate or just mix them with dark chocolate chips, the healthy combination is a treat for your taste buds. The natural sweetness of the dried fruit mixed with the satisfyingly bitter chocolate makes for a perfect snack!

4. Beetroot Juice

For those days when you’re in a rush and all you can manage to do is gulp down something quickly, this super filling drink should be your go to. Packed with vitamin C, beetroot juice will keep you going. For improved taste, consider adding a small amount of your favorite essential oil, such as those available on doterra oils.

5. Homemade Granola Bars

Forget the same old boxed bars you’ve been eating day after day and take a spin at creating your very own! This recipe makes for a great base, and you can substitute or add anything your heart and taste buds desire. Everything you’ve missed in your mass-produced, store-bought granola bars, you can add in here. Best of all, you know they’re freshly made with ingredients that you picked out.
